"You have the dream, now let's make it real!"

If your dream is to pass your motorcycle test and ride a big bike we know of a great little place tucked away in Greenwich where it can come true.

At ACBT London Rider Training we offer a range of DAS training courses based around you. Every trainee is different with different learning and training needs so we tailor our course to the individual. We offer the complete range of training you will need to pass your motorcycle test for whichever motorbike licence category you are interested in, be it AM, A1, A2 or A. More details are available on our DAS Training minisite at www.dastraining.london. Alternatively just contact us and we'll be happy to discuss your requirements.

All you need to get started is a CBT. Have one? Click the red button and get going. Don't have a CBT? Click the green button!

What is DAS?

DAS (Direct Access Scheme) is how most people refer to the process of passing the motorcycle test in the UK. In actual fact there are two different paths you can take. The test is the same but your age and the size of machine the test is taken on will affect the category of licence you obtain. If you have a CBT certificate and a theory test certificate and are over the age of 24 you have "direct access" to the A category (unrestricted) motorbike licence.

If you are under the age of 24, however, your path to the "big bike" unrestricted licence is via the Progressive Access Scheme. We have a blog post here that explains the licence categories in more detail but here's a brief  outline of how it works.

The motorcycle test and test requirements:

The motorcycle test consists of three elements. The Theory test, Module 1 (off road control exercises) and Module 2 (on road riding test). To pass the test you will first need a valid CBT certificate and a valid theory test pass certificate. These must be produced, together with your driving licence each time you attend each of the modules. If you don't have a CBT click here. If you haven't passed your theory test this blog post has the link you need.

The motorcycle licence categories:

AM: Minimum age 16. Allows the candidate to ride a motorcycle up to 50cc without L plates.

A1: Minumum age 17. Allows the candidate to ride a motorcycle up to 125cc without L plates.

A2: Minumum age 19: Allows the candidate to ride a motorcycle up to, roughly, 500cc without L plates. Test must be taken on a motorbike from 249cc with a power output of 20-35Kw (27-47bhp).

A: Minimum age 24: Allows the candidate to ride a full powered motorcycle without restrictions. test must be taken on a motorbike of minimum 595cc with at least 50Kw power (67bhp)

A2-A: Minimum age 21. Must have held an A2 licence for two years then test to be taken on a motorcycle as per A category above.

We hope the above helps t clarify the two strands of passing your motorbike test in the UK. If you still don't get it don't worry, we do! Simply get in touch and we'll be more than happy to explain further:
